Newport Beach is an ocean side city in the Orange County, California.  Newport Beach was incorporated in 1906, and the city annexed Newport Coast in 2001. There is one stand alone middle school; Ensign Intermediate School.  The second middle school is part of the Corona del Mar Intermediate and High School. The second high school in the city is Newport Harbor High School. There are sixteen private schools in Newport Beach; among them are Our Lady of the Angels, California Virtual Academy, Sage School, Temple Bat Yahm Pre-School and Newport Christian School.

Newport Beach is home to Newport Harbor, one of the largest recreational boat harbors on the west coast.  Both residents and tourists, enjoy the Harbor for sailing, fishing, rowing, kayaking and paddleboarding.  Annually since 1908, the Christmas Boat Parade is a tradition resident’s look forward to every year.  The New York Times has called the boat parade “One of the top ten holiday happenings in the nation.” During summer months, almost each weekend, there are competitive boating events.  There are five private yacht clubs in Newport Beach. As part of the Newport Beach water culture, the Newport Harbor has 11 casual and fine restaurants that participate in the dock and dine program.  In addition to the Harbor, Newport Beach is home to the Crystal Cove State Park, with 3,674 acres of protected land, which provides residents with trails for horseback riding, hiking and spaces for camping.
