Newport Beach’s Restaurant Week 2018

 

In January the days are shorter, it is always best to show your home, when it is up for sale, during the day light hours when it is filled with natural light. However, this is often difficult and evening showings are necessary. Turn on all the lights in the house for showings and open houses, even the ones in the closets, because potential buyers will look in there, too. Also, be sure to light up the driveway, front entrance and walkways, not only for curb appeal and finding the home easily but for safety.

 

 

Newport Beach’s Restaurant Week will begin on Monday, January 15th and continue through Sunday, January 28th. This 14 daylong event offers special prix-fixe menus for both lunch and dinner at many of Newport Beach’s premier restaurants. Lunch menus range in price from $10 to $25 and dinner menus range in price from $20 to $50. The event kicks-off on January 11th with the exclusive “Culinary Journey” at the Lincoln Experience Center.  During restaurant week, a wide variety of eateries will be showcasing their special menus. Among the many restaurants participating are 21 Oceanfront on the Balboa Peninsula, 3-Thirty-3 on the Mariner’s Mile and Andrea in Crystal Cove. On Wednesday, January 17th, join the staff at Roger’s Gardens for an Orchid workshop.  The hand-crafted Orchid Arrangement Workshop will be lead by Garden Rose Team Leaders, Chris Patterson and Shelly Burton. This is a terrific way to bring some spring feeling into your home during the winter months. This is the very first workshop of 2018 at Roger’s Gardens.  The workshop begins at 5pm and runs for one hour. The workshop cost is $125. Annual Salvation Army Toy Drive

 

During the winter time, days are shorter. When your home is for sale, try to schedule open houses and showings during daylight hours, so the home can be filled with natural light. However, this is not always possible, given busy schedules at this time of year. When you have open houses or showings during evening hours, be sure to turn on all the lights both inside and outside.

 

 

The Annual Salvation Army Toy Drive is taking place now at Fashion Island. There is just one more day, the Salvation Army Toy Drive ends tomorrow, Tuesday, December 20th. The drop off area at Fashion Island, is at the Concierge/Guest Services desk inside the Atrium Court, located on the second floor. The toy drive needs new unwrapped toys. 17th Annual Christmas Luncheon and Boutique

 

Clean up the yard for a late fall home sale. Trim and mow the lawn, mow it diagonally if possible. Remove fall debris, rake leaves and remove spent plants. Add a little color with plants such as kale, mums or marigolds.  This is a good time to remember to clean out the gutters, as well. Fall is a wet time in many climates, be sure to have a door mat both indoors and outdoors.

Williams Sonoma Cookbook Club

 

Fall is upon us. When selling your home during the fall season, it is very important to maintain good curb appeal, so clean up all that fall yard debris. Keep the driveway, sidewalks, and walkways free from leaves and branches. In the yard, rake up all the leaves and remove all the spent plants. Trim back perennials that are past their prime. For color add some fall blooming annuals or other colorful plants such as mums and kale. Add a pumpkin or squash for a little filler.

 

 

The Williams Sonoma Cookbook Club will be meeting on Wednesday, November 15th. This month the cookbook featured is Jamie Oliver’s Christmas Cookbook. There will be a meet and eat at the store.  The ticket price is $60 and includes a copy of the book. The menu this evening include Jamie Oliver’s recipe for turkey with get ahead gravy, cranberry sauce and apple pie. The event gets underway at 6pm. iL Farro Caffe Trattoria’s Wine Battle Round Two will be taking place on Thursday, September 21st. This will be a California versus Italian wine battle. The wine battle will take place between 6pm and 9 pm. Comparative side by side tastings will be done with tasting notes.  Wine will be served alongside a fresh pasta bar and antipasti selection.
