16th Annual Art in the Park

The 16thAnnual Art in the Park event will return to Newport Beach on Saturday, September 28th. Please make a note that the event is being held on a new date this year. The art show is being held on the Civic Green. Among the artwork for sale will be paper, mixed media, photography, painting, wood, textiles and jewelry. Malice in Wonderland at Roger's Gardens

The Roger’s Gardens Halloween Boutique is opening on August 30th at 9am. This year’s Halloween Boutique theme is Malice in Wonderland. You will encounter the White Rabbit, the Red Queen, and the Mad Hatter. The Halloween Boutique will stay open through October 31stat 6pm. Roger’s Gardens is located in Corona del Mar. Costa Mesa is 16 square mile city, which is made up of five areas; including Central Costa Mesa, Eastside Costa Mesa, Mesa Verde, South Coast Metro and Southwest Costa Mesa. Explore the Bay Family Hike

The Newport Bay Conservancy, in partnership with Orange County parks is hosting an Explore the Bay Family Hike. This hike is designed for all ages. Families will learn about the trails which surround the bay and the bay, itself. This is a one-hour hike, which is an introduction to the bay and will be led by a naturalist. The hike will leave from the patio at the Upper Newport Bay Nature Reserve. The hike will be on both paved and dirt trails. Community Day at Back Bay Science Center

 

The Back Bay Science Center is open to the Public on Sundays from 10am to 2pm for their Community Day. The Back Bay Science Center is not normally open to the public, so this is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about the facility. The science center is located on Shellmaker Island next too Newport Dunes. This facility offers educational programs on estuarine and marine ecology and how these connect to the watershed. One the overall goals of the science center is to help people understand what they can be doing at home to impact the future of the watershed. Community Day is a free event. Costa Mesa is an Orange County city surrounded by Huntington Beach, Irvine and Newport Beach. The city is 16 square miles and is just one mile from the Pacific Ocean.  Located at 2231 Golden Circle, this 2,100 square foot home is part of the Back Bay developments. American Patriots Bell

 

As fall begins, this is a good time to clean the fireplaces and make them a highlighted feature of your home, especially during a home sale. Draw attention to the fireplace by putting a dramatic piece of art on the mantel, or creating a seating space in front it.  If the fireplace is outdoors, set chopped wood on the hearth. A fireplace is a selling feature, make the most of it. Remember, to set-up a fireplace during home showings and open houses, but do not light it, safety first.

 

The American Patriots Bell will be taking place on Saturday, September 22nd.  The event is sponsored by the Veterans Legal Institute. The ball kicks-off at 5:30pm and ends at 10pm. The Veterans Legal Institute supports veterans throughout Southern California who are homeless, disabled, at-risk and low-income. The VLI has served over 4,000 veterans. This will be there inaugural charity gala. The gala will include dinner, dancing, silent auction and a live auction. During the gala, they will honor the veteran of the year, the veteran advocate of the year and community partner of the year.  The ball will be held at The Fashion Island Hotel, which is located at 690 Newport Center Drive in Newport Beach. When you are selling your home, regardless of the season, you want to let in as much natural light as possible. Clean the windows both inside and outside. Clean all the drapes, curtains and blinds.  During showings and open houses, keep the blinds and drapes drawn. On the outside, prune back trees and shrubs, to allow more light in.  In addition, add additional lamps to a dark corner, to add more light.

 

Oak Grill is hosting Aquaology on Friday, August 24th.  Aqualogy is an interactive mixology workshop, which includes several cocktails such as, old fashioneds, daiquiris, margaritas and mojitos.  The class is taught by mixologist Chris Ojeda from Soho House and Southern Wine and Spirits. Lido Theater's 80th Anniversary

 

When you are preparing to sell your home, consider having a pre-inspection done first. Before listing the home fix all the items a home inspector sites. The Lido Theater is celebrating its 80th Anniversary with two back to back events.  On Wednesday, August 15th, they will be celebrating with a Bill Medley Concert. 13th Annual Just Plein Fun Painting Event

The 13th Annual Just Plein Fun Painting Event is being presented by The Huse and Skelly Studio Gallery. The event will begin on Monday, July 30th and run through Friday, August 3rd. 9th Annual Sunset Jazz Newport Beach Festival
