10th Annual Celebrate Leadership Event

The Girl Scouts of Orange County, is having their 10th Annual Celebrate Leadership Event. On Friday, November 8th, the the event will be held at the Fashion Island Hotel, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. This year there will be new honoree categories, new leadership building activities, a silent auction and a live auction. Honorees are paired with girl scouts, “linking tomorrow’s leaders with leaders of today.” The Fashion Island Hotel is located 690 Newport Center Drive. Costa Mesa is an Orange County city, which is 37 miles south of Los Angeles and 88 miles north of San Diego. The city was incorporated in 1953. 44th Annual Fall Faire and Pumpkin Patch

The 44th Annual Fall Faire and Pumpkin Patch will on Sunday, October 13th.  The Faire and Pumpkin Patch will be open from 10am to 3pm.  Pumpkins in all shapes and sizes will be available for purchase. The pumpkin patch is also the ideal place for family photos. In addition, to pumpkins there will be children’s craft projects, games, face painting and entertainment. There will food and drinks available for purchase, including a booth from the Newport Beach Fire Department.  The event is being held at the Environmental Nature Center, at 1601 East 16th Street. Costa Mesa is an Orange County city which is surrounded by Huntington Beach, Irvine and Newport Beach. Succulent Pumpkin Garden

Roger’s Garden in Corona del Mar, has several events coming up, in addition to their Halloween Boutique. On Saturday, September 28th, they will be hosting a workshop on creating your own pumpkin succulent garden. The Original Designs Team Leader, Onita Castillo, will help you create your own pumpkin centerpiece. The workshop includes step by step instructions, all materials and care instructions. Shady Canyon is a group of luxury residential developments in the city of Irvine. Shady Canyon is an approximately 800 acres with a Country Club and Golf Course. 16th Annual Art in the Park

The 16thAnnual Art in the Park event will return to Newport Beach on Saturday, September 28th. Please make a note that the event is being held on a new date this year. The art show is being held on the Civic Green. Among the artwork for sale will be paper, mixed media, photography, painting, wood, textiles and jewelry. Malice in Wonderland at Roger's Gardens

The Roger’s Gardens Halloween Boutique is opening on August 30th at 9am. This year’s Halloween Boutique theme is Malice in Wonderland. Costa Mesa is 16 square mile city, which is made up of five areas; including Central Costa Mesa, Eastside Costa Mesa, Mesa Verde, South Coast Metro and Southwest Costa Mesa. Explore the Bay Family Hike

The Newport Bay Conservancy, in partnership with Orange County parks is hosting an Explore the Bay Family Hike. This hike is designed for all ages. Families will learn about the trails which surround the bay and the bay, itself. This is a one-hour hike, which is an introduction to the bay and will be led by a naturalist. The hike will leave from the patio at the Upper Newport Bay Nature Reserve. The hike will be on both paved and dirt trails. Community Day at Back Bay Science Center

 

The Back Bay Science Center is open to the Public on Sundays from 10am to 2pm for their Community Day. The Back Bay Science Center is not normally open to the public, so this is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about the facility. The science center is located on Shellmaker Island next too Newport Dunes. This facility offers educational programs on estuarine and marine ecology and how these connect to the watershed. One the overall goals of the science center is to help people understand what they can be doing at home to impact the future of the watershed. Community Day is a free event. Costa Mesa is an Orange County city surrounded by Huntington Beach, Irvine and Newport Beach. American Patriots Bell

 

As fall begins, this is a good time to clean the fireplaces and make them a highlighted feature of your home, especially during a home sale. Draw attention to the fireplace by putting a dramatic piece of art on the mantel, or creating a seating space in front it.  If the fireplace is outdoors, set chopped wood on the hearth. A fireplace is a selling feature, make the most of it. Remember, to set-up a fireplace during home showings and open houses, but do not light it, safety first.

 

The American Patriots Bell will be taking place on Saturday, September 22nd.  The event is sponsored by the Veterans Legal Institute. The ball kicks-off at 5:30pm and ends at 10pm. The Veterans Legal Institute supports veterans throughout Southern California who are homeless, disabled, at-risk and low-income. The VLI has served over 4,000 veterans. This will be there inaugural charity gala. The gala will include dinner, dancing, silent auction and a live auction. Aqualogy at Oak Grill

 

When you are selling your home, regardless of the season, you want to let in as much natural light as possible. Clean the windows both inside and outside. Clean all the drapes, curtains and blinds.  During showings and open houses, keep the blinds and drapes drawn. On the outside, prune back trees and shrubs, to allow more light in.  In addition, add additional lamps to a dark corner, to add more light.

 

Oak Grill is hosting Aquaology on Friday, August 24th.  Aqualogy is an interactive mixology workshop, which includes several cocktails such as, old fashioneds, daiquiris, margaritas and mojitos.  The class is taught by mixologist Chris Ojeda from Soho House and Southern Wine and Spirits.
